September 2010 Newsletter
FROM YOUR INTERIM PASTOR
Greetings in the Lord! I just finished preaching in the BCF chapel service about continuing in the Word. Continuing in the Word of God -- devotionally, extra reading, in-depth study, proclamation, and commitment to the Word -- are all essential for our spiritual health. I pray that you will continue in the Word in every way possible.
Some ways that you can do so are through our Sunday School, worship services, and discipling groups. The discipling groups will start after Labor Day. Watch for announcements about them.
Our nation and region are in difficult times economically, yet Shiloh Baptist Church has been “hanging in there” with our giving. We are not up-to-par or current with the budget, but we are far ahead of where we could be or where many churches are at this point. Thank you for your faithfulness in giving. I pray that many more will “test me in this” as the Lord said in Malachi 3:10. Try it! You will like! The Lord will bless your obedience in tithing and giving beyond the tithe. Remember -- it is not about the church having money or meeting the budget. It is about funding the work that God has called us to do for His kingdom and glory.

STUDENT MINISTRY
See You at the Pole!
On Wednesday, September 22 @ 7:00 am, GATHER at your school flagpole, PRAY for your school, friends, families, and world. ASK God to REVEAL Who He is to your campus. Pray for AWAKENING.
Sunday School!
We are so blessed to have a team of teachers who love the Lord and you! Sunday School is cool! It’s where small groups of students gather to study God’s Word and encourage one another in their walk with Jesus. It’s where small groups of students pray for one another. It’s where we invite our un-churched friends so they can learn about God’s love and be saved. It’s where spiritual growth and encouragement take place! Don’t forget that September 5th is promotion Sunday. Let’s start the new church and school year with a renewed commitment to God’s Word and to each other in Sunday School.
Sacrifice!
It’s what Jesus did. It’s what the Christian faith is all about. It’s not about me. It’s not about you. It’s not about what we like, don’t like, want or wish. It is all about Jesus. Let’s let go and sacrifice our desires and exchange them for a hearts desire to do nothing else….except God’s will.
God’s Best for You,
Bro. Shawn

MUSIC NOTES
“Shackled by a heavy burden, ‘neath a load of guilt and shame. Then the hand of Jesus touched me, and now I am no longer the same. He touched me…and made me whole!” How grateful we can be that the words to this song are true today! Though once lost in our own sin, Jesus came from where He was and found us. He touched all of the broken places in our lives and made us whole! He is a wonderful Savior! It’s a beautiful reminder isn’t it? Often, our enemy seeks to convince us that we’re still burdened beneath the heavy weight of our flesh, but Jesus has set us free! God’s Word to us says that “He who has been set free by the Son shall be free indeed!” (Jn. 8:36) Remember that in Christ Jesus you can be free today. Free to live out from under the burden of sin and to walk in the power of His presence. He will touch you and make you whole. He will mend all of the broken places, proclaim freedom for the captive, and release the prisoner from darkness. (Is. 61:1) Praise His name! Never forget where He brought You from and always press toward where He is taking you, in freedom and with rejoicing!
It’s an exciting time in the choir! We’re just beginning again for the fall and preparing for Christmas ‘10 if you can believe it! Please join us for the choir kick-off party on Wednesday, September 1 @ 7:15 in the fellowship hall.
See you in Worship!!
